Bayern release statement on Mazraoui and the Israeli–Palestinian conflict

Bayern Munich have held a "detailed and clarifying conversation" with Noussair Mazraoui following the right-back's pro-Palestinian social media posts.

Bayern Munich have released a statement on Noussair Mazraoui after the right-back sparked controversy with pro-Palestinian social media posts.

The German champions have had a "detailed and clarifying conversation" with the right-back after he expressed support for Palestine following the attack on Israel by terrorist group Hamas earlier this month.

"Noussair Mazraoui has credibly assured us that as a peace-loving person he resolutely rejects terror and war and he never meant to cause any irritation with his posts. FC Bayern condemns Hamas' attack on Israel," said Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen.

Mazraoui added:

"Furthermore, I condemn all terrorism and terrorist organizations."

After making his stance clear, the 25-year-old remains part of the Bayern squad, but is sidelined due to injury.

The statement also reads:

"FC Bayern stands by Germany's Jewish community and by Israel's side; nothing justifies the murder of children and families.

"FC Bayern believes that football should unleash its power of reconciliation between different cultures, especially in the most difficult moments. Noussair Mazraoui will remain in the FC Bayern squad, but is out of action due to an injury he sustained."
