Bayern to make late decision on Upamecano for Heidenheim clash

Dayot Upamecano could be given a rest against Heidenheim, with Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel concerned that the Frenchman could suffer another injury setback.
Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel has revealed that he's considering giving Dayot Upamecano a rest against Heidenheim on Saturday.

The French centre-back returned from a muscle injury in time for last week's 4-0 win over Borussia Dortmund and also started in Wednesday's 2-1 win over Galatasaray.

And speaking after the Galatasaray game, Tuchel admitted he's concerned Upamecano could suffer a setback if he's overworked.

"The doctors made it clear that he isn't ready to play every 3 days. Every time he sprinted in the second half, my heart almost skipped a beat. It was too early for him, but he played really well," Tuchel told reporters after the win over Galatsaray, adding that he a late decision will be made on Upamecano's involvement against Heidenheim.

"Will he play against Heidenheim? I can't say yet. We have to wait until Friday or Saturday to see how tired the muscle is, and how tired the player is."
