Report: Mbabu loan recall waits on Augsburg's approval

Swiss footballing publication "20 Minuten" reports that London-side Fulham F.C. and Feyenoord have worked out a new loan arrangement for FC Augsburg fullback Kevin Mbabu.

Whether or not Germany's Fuggerstädter are prepared to allow their current loanee to depart, however, remains a different matter entirely. The 28-year-old recently nailed down an FCA starting spot.

Former VfL Wolfsburg fullback Kevin Mbabu has earned a starting place at FC Augsburg during his current loan stint with Germany's Fuggerstädter. The 28-year-old has started the last six league fixtures under FCA trainer Jess Thorup. He also got his name back on a Bundesliga scoresheet for the first time this season with an assist during last Sunday's 2-1 comeback win against Borussia Mönchengladbach.

There have nevertheless been whispers in various rumor mills that the Swiss international's parent club Fulham F.C. wish to arrange a new loan arrangement for him. The player himself wishes to accrue as much playing time as possible in oder to increase his chances of representing his country at this summer's European Championship.

It is such that, according to various sources, Fulham have worked out a new loan arrangement with Erdevisie side Feyenoord Rotterdam. Swiss journalist Tobias Wedermann goes so far as to claim that all the details for an Mbabu recall and re-loan have been worked out by the Premiership side and the Dutch club. Wedermann reports that Fulham and Feyenoord are waiting for the green light from Augsburg.

Whether or not the German club shall give said green light remains to be seen. Yesterday's loan-out of Croatian left back David Colina to Denmark marked the sixth January departure from the club. With a starting place secured, the notion of Mbabu agreeing to a switch also appears doubtful. Augsburg do not possess a purchase option for Mbabu, whose current deal with Fulham runs through 2025.
