Confirmed: FCB youngster Krätzig heads to Vienna on loan

FC Bayern München defensive prospect Franz Krätzig's loan-out to FK Austria Wien has been confirmed.
The rumored loan of 21-year-old FC Bayern München defender Frans Krätzig to FK Austria Wien is now official. The 21-year-old will receive a chance to accrue more playing time in Vienna on a six-month loan deal. Bayern took advantage of the fact that the January transfer window in Austria remained open through today to park their prospect.

Krätzig made a total of five appearances for the FCB senior team across all competitions this year. He netted a goal in Bayern's opening round Pokal victory against Preußen Münster. Unfortunately, his debut in Thomas Tuchel's starting XI came in Bayern's shock loss to FC Saarbrücken in the second round of the domestic cup. He's made one brief relief appearance since.

"Frans is at a stage in his young career where he needs to play regularly in order to continuously up his game," FCB sporting director Christoph Freund explained in a Bayern-released statement, "At Austria Vienna, he has the chance to take the next steps in the professional game. We will be monitoring his development very closely over the coming months."

"I think I have the perfect opportunity here to develop further and gain playing time," Krätzig said at his league unveiling, "especially with coach Michael Wimmer - who I still know from Nürnberg - were great. I definitely want to help the team. It's about showing that we can play at the top level with this really cool club. That's why I'm here."
