The pressure is said to be mounting on Schalke 04 coach Domenico Tedesco with the club playing their worst Bundesliga season in 36 years.

But the 33-year-old, who led 'The Royal Blues' to a second place finish last season, insists the board's trust in him is unchanged.

"It was already a huge vote of confidence from the club to make a their coach at the of 31. I feel that this confidence has been unchanged since I took up office. That was and is anything but expectable. Of course we want to pay back," Tedesco told Sport Bild and added:

"It's clear that the atmosphere is better if you're successful. That goes for every club in the world. But we continue to work from morning to night every day to get Schalke back on track - each and one of us, together. We're convinced that we can do so."

According to Sport Bild, the Schalke board discussed Tedesco's situation in the wake of last week's 2-3 defeat to Manchester City and clearly agreed to face the future with the young coach at the helm.

However, there are increased doubts within the club about whether Tedesco can get the team out of the negative spiral following last weekend's embarrassing 0-3 to defeat to Mainz.

The German news outlet further reports that the Schalke bosses have started thinking about potential replacements for Tedesco.

VfL Wolfsburg coach Bruno Labbadia, whose contract runs out this summer, is mentioned as a possibility. Another option is the former Bayer Leverkusen coach Roger Schmidt who currently works as a coach for Chinese side Beijing Guoan.

Schalke are currently sitting 14th in the Bundesliga table.
