Hat-trick hero Kane hopes Mainz thrashing will be "fresh start"

Harry Kane hopes Saturday's 8-1 thrashing of Mainz will be a "fresh start" for Bayern.
After a string of underwhelming performances in the Bundesliga, Bayern Munich looked back to their best with a commanding 8-1 win over Mainz at the Allianz Arena on Saturday.

Star striker Harry Kane, who scored a hat-trick and added an assist, hopes the win will mark a new beginning for Bayern this season.

"Hopefully this game is a kind of fresh start for the rest of the season. We used the momentum today, it was a great performance from us from start to finish. We took our chances against a difficult opponent. Now we have to build on this performance in the coming weeks," said Kane in a post-match interview.

"I'm feeling good at the moment and we're creating a lot of chances as a team. There are still a few games left, so I want to score more goals. Of course I'm also happy about my assist for Jamal, I saw it out of the corner of my eye. It was probably one of the best assists of my career. It's great that Jamal scored it so well," he added.

With his three goals today, Kane has now netted 30 times in the Bundesliga this season.
