Harry Kane has missed Bayern Munich's games against Bayer Leverkusen, Heidenheim and Shakhtar Donetsk since suffering a minor muscle strain against Borussia Dortmund.

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany has previously expressed his hope of having Kane back before the end of 2024.

But while the England captain is recovering well, a return to action against Mainz this weekend is unlikely, board member for sport Max Eberl revealed on Tuesday.

"Probably not," he told AZ when asked if Kane would be back in the squad for Saturday's trip to Mainz.

Despite the absence of their top scorer, Bayern have had no problems finding the net recently, scoring nine times in total in their last two games against Heidenheim (4-2) and Shakhtar Donetsk (5-1).
