Hoeness analyzes loss in Belgrade: "It wasn't a good performance from us"

After seeing his side go down 5-1 in Belgrade, Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeness was understandably disappointed.

Sebastian Hoeness has admitted that not much was going right for his VfB Stuttgart side in Wednesday's 5-1 Champions League defeat to Crvena Zvezda.

"It wasn’t a good performance from us, from front to back. We lacked precision in our play, never really got into a rhythm or took control, despite having a lot of possession. We slowed the tempo down at the wrong moments and sped it up at the wrong times too. We weren’t able to come out on top in lots of decisive tackles either. Our positioning wasn’t good when we lost possession and that played into the opposition’s hands," Hoeness said after the defeat.

With four points from five Champions League games, there's real pressure on Stuttgart to perform in their final three league phase games.

“We missed a big opportunity to put ourselves in a better position in the Champions League table. After this game and this result, we’re now in a situation where we need to pick up points in all of our remaining games,” said Hoeness.
