The German national team have started well into the year, beating the Euros favorite France 2-0 in Lyon. This win furthered the anticipation for the home tournament which starts in June.

Next to the improvement on the pitch, the DFB has also gotten a lot of praise from its fans for their recent marketing and commercial work - especially the trailers for Germany's new kits have been received quite well.

An integral element of these trailers has been the song "Major Tom (Völlig losgelöst...)" by Peter Schilling:

Many fans now want this song to be the official goal song for Germany at this year's Euros.

A fan-made petition to change the song from "Kernkraft 400" to "Major Tom (Völlig losgelöst...) has now gotten over 40.000 votes.

According to Florian Plettenberg from Sky Germany, the DFB is really considering to react to this petition - but a possible decision will not be made before their match against the Netherlands on Tuesday.

"It‘s important to us to make our goal song appear as often as possible. Which song it‘ll ultimately be, doesn‘t matter to me," says DFB coach Julian Nagelsmann.
