Kompany visits a FC Bayern fan club for the first time
After the joint sessions had been canceled since 2019 due to the pandemic and the 2022 Winter World Cup and were held in January last winter due to heavy snowfall, FC Bayern were now traditionally held again before Christmas. Head coach Vincent Kompany provided happy moments and an unforgettable afternoon for the Bayern supporters of the fan club "Obing '84 e.V." in the Upper Bavarian district of Traunstein.

Steffen Baumgart's appointment at 1. FC Union head-coach has - first and foremost - placed a freeze on any and all FCU transfer plans for the current January window. This was confirmed by both the new gaffer himself and club managing director Horst Heldt in public comments following Baumgart's initial training session on Thursday afternoon.

”It makes sense for the new coach to get to know the team first," Heldt told members of the assembled press corps. "We still have the whole of January to think about the squad. After the first impressions, we will exchange ideas and then make decisions.”

"We should work with what we have available," Baumgart added. "Everyone should get their chance. Who should leave and who should stay is a difficult topic when one has just arrived."

"In my opinion, the roster is largely well built," Baumgart continued. "We should begin with what we have. I need to have the chance to talk to everyone.in order to asses how they see their situation."

"That's where we'll begin," Baumgart went on. "We have a team prepared to play my intense style of football."

"Yes, that's important," Baumgart answered when asked if he was partial to his usual style of playing a back-four, "I've had success with that."

"A lot is possible with this roster," Baumgart continued as part of his answer to the question, "but you can act on the assumption that I'll try a back-four."
