Stanisic on Xabi Alonso's decision to stay at Leverkusen: "A bit of a shame"

Josip Stanisic has admitted that he would have loved to see Xabi Alonso join him at Bayern this summer.
Xabi Alonso's decision to reject interest from the likes of Bayern Munich and Liverpool to stay at Bayer Leverkusen beyond the end of the summer is a huge boost for the Werkself.

But for Josip Stanisic, who is currently on loan at Leverkusen from Bayern, the Spaniard's decision is "a bit of a shame".

"I'm glad he's happy here. But of course it's a bit of a shame for me. I was hoping for a different outcome," Stanisic told Sport1, hinting that he would have liked to see Xabi Alonso join him at Bayern this summer.

Whether Stanisic himself will be a Bayern player next season is not 100% certain.

"You never know what will happen in the summer. So I'm not ruling anything out," he said.
