Werder Bremen veteran Claudio Pizarro says he has the intension to continue his footballing career beyond the end of this season.

The 40-year-old's contract with Werder runs out this summer, but Pizarro, who turns 41 in October, is eager to extend their cooperation.

"I feel very good. I have the idea in mind to play for another year. But I have to talk to those responsible here at the club about their plans first. The first goal, however, is to end this season in the best possible way - hopefully by qualifying for the Europa League," Pizarro said in an interview with Mein Werder.

Pizarro and Werder are sitting ninth in the Bundesliga with two games left to play this season - five points behind Borussia Mönchengladbach, who are in sixth place, which grants access to the Europa League.
