Niklas Süle: There are no certain starters at Bayern

Niklas Süle says there should be no certain starters at Bayern München.

Niklas Süle featured in nearly every game for Bayern München during the 2018/19 season and was given a big pat on the shoulder when his coach, Niko Kovac, said in January that the 23-year-old is considered his first-choice centre-back.

Nevertheless, the German international makes it clear he won't rest on his laurels, because he feels no player should feel certain to start at a club like Bayern.

"That was a nice sign for me and a vote of confidence from the coach. Especially in regard to the decisive games. That gives confidence. This year, I also had bad games where I made two or three mistakes. But in general, I was very satisfied with my consistency during the season - and even more with winning the double. Still, I'm struggling with the term 'certain starter'," Süle told Sport1 and added:

"There are no certain starters at Bayern. Other big clubs don't always have the same eleven players on the pitch either. That's why I like the fact that I played so many games again even more. But I think I deserved that."

Süle made 42 appearances for Bayern through the 2018/19 campaign.
