Bayer Leverkusen's record-signing, Kerem Demirbay, says he has come to BayArena to win trophies.

The 26-year-old, who has completed a €32 million move from Hoffenheim this summer, is impressed by his new teammates and believes Leverkusen could accomplish something big in the coming years.

"I've been surprised by the fact that there are so many good footballers in the team - intelligent ones, as well. We just need to have the courage to play our style of football every day. To play offensively, defend offensively. To have the courage to play football even when it's risky. I don't want to run behind the ball for 90 minutes," Demirbay told Kicker before underlining:

"I didn't come here to be mediocre. I also want to win titles. We have a lot of quality and want to do a lot of things. We are striving for titles in the coming years".

According to Demirbay, Leverkusen shouldn't be considered behind Dortmund at all. Meanwhile, he argues, "Bayern are Bayern. But you can still win against them."

"Football is so beautiful, because anything is possible. I don't really feel we're much weaker than these two teams," he said.

Demirbay has signed a contract until 2024 with Leverkusen.
