Alex Nübel appointed new Schalke captain
Alexander Nübel is Schalke's new captain.
Alexander Nübel has been named captain of Schalke 04 for the 2019/20 season, the club have announced.
The 22-year-old takes over the responsibility from Ralf Fährmann who has joined Norwich City on loan.
Schalke also announced that Benjamin Stambouli and Omar Mascarell will be his deputies.
"I'm very happy that these three guys will lead the team next season. I believe our team is in very good hands," Schalke coach David Wagner said following the announcement.
Nübel made 22 appearances for Schalke last season.
