Fantasy Bundesliga tips: Goalkeepers to consider for the 2019/20 season
Here are the goalkeepers you should consider for your Fantasy Bundesliga team.
Budget options
If you're looking for a cheap first-choice goalkeeper, you could go for SC Paderborn's Jannik Huth who costs 4 million. The newly-promoted Bundesliga side will probably concede plenty of goals, but with opposing teams taking shots at their goal, Huth will most likely also get to make a lot of saves.
Andreas Luthe, who is priced at just 4 million, has been Augsburg's first-choice keeper during their pre-season, but it's unlikely that it will stay that way, with 'Die Függerstädter' working on signing a new number one. Under all circumstances, it's definitely worth monitoring Augsburg's keeper situation. Edit: Augsburg have now signed a new keeper in Tomas Koubek from Stade Rennes.
Zack Steffen (Fortuna Düsseldorf, 7M) costs a little more than our other budget recommendations, but looks like a very solid pick after seemingly having taken over the number one role at Merkur Spiel-Arena.
Mid-price options
SC Freiburg's Alexander Schwolow looks like one of the most solid mid-range options at 9 million. Even though Freiburg have a nice run of fixtures from the start of the season, they are rarely overly dominant, so Schwolow should still be able to collect points from making saves.
If you're willing to spend a little more, you should consider Koen Casteels (Wolfsburg, 11M). 'Die Wölfe' have looked strong in pre-season under new coach Oliver Glasner and begins the Bundesliga season with a very nice run of fixtures.
Premium options
RB Leipzig had the Bundesliga's best defensive record last season, not least thanks to Peter Gulacsi (RB Leipzig, 12M) who kept as many as 16 clean sheets in the league during the 2018/19 campaign. That alone should certainly make Gulacsi an option to consider. However, with Julian Nagelsmann taking over as coach from Ralf Rangnick, 'Die Roten Bullen' may rely less on their defensive soundness than they did last season.
Finally, of course, there's Manuel Neuer (Bayern München, 14M). Even though last season wasn't Neuer's best, he still managed to keep 11 clean sheets, and his position as Bayern's undisputed number one alone means that he will certainly be collecting plenty of points.
