In an interview with Sport Bild, Werner has elaborated on what Löw told him.
"The German national team coach sees all this from a distance, so it's great talking to him about things like that. I can ask him anything. He knows what's going on - without directly having anything to do with Leipzig, Julian Nagelsmann or my considerations. He gave me good personal advice," Werner told Sport Bild and added:
"'Jogi' Löw has said he's very impressed with Julian Nagelsmann and that he knows that he can develop players. He brought up Niklas Süle and Serge Gnabry as examples of players who benefitted from him. He also told me that no matter what I would decide, it wouldn't be a step back to sign an extension with RB Leipzig. He believes Julian Nagelsmann is a coach with potential who can help me move forward."
Niklas Süle and Serge Gnabry both played under Nagelsmann at Hoffenheim before eventually joining Bayern München.
