"Of course, I want to show that the national team can count on me if I'm needed. My goal is to become the first-choice option," Trapp told Bild.
The battle for the number one shirt is tough, and Trapp is fully aware of that. Manuel Neuer has been Germany coach Joachim Löw's preferred option for years, and Marc-André ter Stegen looks like the most probable successor to the Bayern München keeper.
But even if Trapp doesn't reach his goal, the 29-year-old feels he gets a lot out of being part of the national team.
"You can definitely benefit from working with goalkeepers like Manuel Neuer, Marc-André [ter Stegen] and Bernd Leno," he said.
Trapp has made three appearances for Germany.
