Davie Selke will not be eligible to play when Werder Bremen face Hertha BSC in the Bundesliga on March 7 due to a clause in his contract.

The clause prevents the Hertha loanee from facing his parent club in the league – but only until the end of the season. It doesn't apply to the DFB-Pokal.

"It was a condition that Hertha set. Without it, the transfer wouldn't have been possible," Werder sporting director Frank Baumann told Bild.

The 25-year-old joined Werder on a one-and-a-half-year loan deal in January.
