Philipp Lahm has waxed lyrical about former Bayern München coach Jupp Heynckes, under whom he won the treble in 2013.

In an interview on the occasion of Heynckes' 75th birthday, Lahm told AZ:

"Jupp Heynckes is a legend as a player, as a coach and as a person.

"As a coach, he was able to perfectly assess the quality of each player. His great human maturity and experience allowed him to find the right approach for each player and get the best out of them.

"The team was of an extremely high quality, and Jupp Heynckes knew how to control it and get things under control. The team really appreciate him because of his experience as a coach and his personality."
