After impressively beating Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 in their Bundesliga opener, TSG Hoffenheim suffered their first defeat of the season on Saturday, falling 1-3 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt.

Speaking in a post-match interview, Hoffenheim coach Christian Ilzer acknowledged that Frankfurt had the clinical edge.

“Frankfurt were just very efficient. We needed to take advantage of the key moments today to beat such a strong opponent, but in the end we couldn’t.

"You could see that Frankfurt are superior to us in every aspect - from decision-making in attack, to finishing, and ultimately in defense. They deserved the win.

"We put in a good performance, but it’s simply not enough against one of the top teams in the league.”
