Jean-Matteo Bahoya kicked off the Bundesliga season in style, scoring a brace in Eintracht Frankfurt’s 4-1 win over Werder Bremen on Saturday.

The 20-year-old French winger made his breakthrough for Eintracht last season, recording three goals and four assists across all competitions, and he’s determined to become even more influential this term.

Having also scored in Eintracht’s 5-0 DFB-Pokal first-round win over FV Engers 07, Bahoya is already on three goals for the season.

“If I can, I’d like to score 20 goals this season,” Bahoya told Kicker with a broad grin after Eintracht's comfortable win over Werder Bremen.

“I’m very happy because we won and I scored two goals," he added.

"I played with a lot of energy and pace. Hopefully, this is just the beginning. I have the freedom to show my football, and I’m playing with confidence now.”

Both goals were set up by Can Uzun, and Bahoya clearly enjoys playing alongside the attacking midfielder.

“I love playing with Can. He plays really well, and he knows me. When he sees I have space, he gives me the ball,” he noted.
