DFL chief Christian Seifert praises Dortmund for signing Erling Haaland

Borussia Dortmund did well to sign Erling Haaland before he was snapped up by another European top club, says German Football League boss Christian Seifert.
German Football League (DFL) CEO Christian Seifert has praised Borussia Dortmund for their capture of Erling Haaland from RB Salzburg in January.

BVB saw off competition from some of Europe's biggest clubs to land the young forward, who has taken the Bundesliga by storm following his arrival at Signal Iduna Park, scoring 10 goals in nine league appearances so far.

And speaking in an interview with Marca, Seifert says he believes the German club did well to sign Haaland ahead of the likes of Real Madrid, who he has been continuously linked with in the last few months.

"It's easy now to admire a player who is already at the focus of worldwide attention. The hard thing is signing him before that happens. Dortmund did that, again doing an excellent job," Seifert told Marca.

Haaland's contract with Dortmund runs until 2024.
