"The move to Union last summer was exactly the right one. I was given a great reception by the team and immediately felt at home with this special club," said Bülter in a statement and added:
"For me personally, it's been an incredible first year in the Bundesliga, in which I was able to gain a lot of new experience and contribute to the good results so far this season. In the next few weeks, I will do everything I can to keep up us in the league together with my team-mates so that I can play in the Bundesliga again in the new season."
Oliver Ruhnert, Union Berlin's director of professional football, said:
"Marius has impressed this season and exceeded the expectations we had when we signed him. He is a physically strong player who is committed to the team, but also shows his individual quality time and again. I'm sure that Marius will continue to play an important role in our team in the future and I'm looking forward to working with him in the future."
The 27-year-old has made 32 appearances for Union this season, racking up seven goals and four assists.
