Augsburg captain Daniel Baier admits that he is disappointed to have slipped down the pecking order under Heiko Herrlich.

The 36-year-old has been a regular starter for years, but has dropped to the bench in recent weeks.

"The situation is unusual for me. In my 10 years at FCA, I have actually always been a regular starter. In that sense it's a new experience, but it's one I know from the time before I joined Augsburg," Baier told Sport Bild and added:

"I will do everything I can to change the situation or help the team, when I'm subbed on. It has always been clear to me that I wouldn't march through to the end of my career and play every game.

"I'm disappointed, and there's a certain rage inside me. Anything else than that would be strange as a professional footballer. But it's all about supporting the team and putting your own interests second."

Baier joined Augsburg from Wolfsburg in 2010 and has since made 354 appearances for the club with eight goals and 25 assists to his name.
