Florian Kohfeldt will stay on as Werder Bremen coach, according to Sport1, who claims the decision will be announced on Friday.

Werder boss Frank Baumann said earlier this week that Kohfeldt would be allowed to keep his job if he wanted to.

The 37-year-old, who has been linked with Hoffenheim, is under contract with Werder until 2023.

Kohfeldt and Werder narrowly avoided direct relegation with a 6-1 victory over FC Köln in the final Bundesliga game of the season, leapfrogging Fortuna Düsseldorf into the relegation play-off spot.

On Monday, the Green-Whites secured a spot in next season's Bundesliga on away goals as they drew 2-2 with Heidenheim in the second leg of the relegation play-off.
