Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper Yann Sommer says he feels he is playing as well as ever before.

Asked if he believes goalkeepers get better with age, Sommer told Kicker:

"Yes, you have more experience, go into games more calmly and can anticipate everything better. I was pretty consistent last season, which is very important. Maybe it was even my best year."

The 31-year-old extended his contract until 2023 last year and has no plans of hanging up his gloves anytime soon.

"I don't look that far into the future. I'm very happy about the course of my career. I have gained a lot of experience in the last few years and have developed as a person and goalkeeper," Sommer said and added:

"If I'm still in goal for Borussia at the age of 40? Why not, if I stay fit and have fun at the same time?"
