Everton are on the search for a new left-back, and the Premier League club are considering a move for FC Bayern München's Juan Bernat, Liverpool Echo reports.

The ageing Leighton Baines has been out with a calf injury since November, and Cuco Martina, who is a natural right-back, has had to fill the void until now.

But now, Everton are reportedly keen on bringing in a new left-back, and that could be Bernat.

The 24-year-old has only played two matches for Bayern this season, mainly due to injury problems, but his playing time at the Allianz Arena has generally been limited the past few seasons as he is behind David Alaba in the pecking order.

Bernat joined Bayern from Valencia in 2014 and is under contract until 2019.
