Eintracht Frankfurt striker Bas Dost has confirmed that Tottenham were in for him during the transfer window.

"I heard from my agent that they were really interested," Dost said in an interview with Bild.

Although the 31-year-old was flattered by the interest shown in him by Tottenham manager José Mourinho, he claims he never considered leaving Frankfurt.

"I don't think I would be able to nail down a starting berth there, and I just want to play," said the Dutch striker, who wasn't entirely happy with his first season at Frankfurt that saw him score eight goals in 24 Bundesliga games.

"If you look at my career, I have never left a club after just one season, and that wasn't going to change now, especially since I have only been able to show little here so far. I'm far from finished at Eintracht.

"We all know what happened last season. That it didn't work out the way we all thought it would. I scored some goals, but I wasn't satisfied."

Dost has scored three goals and made three assists in four games in all competitions so far this season.
