Lewandowski nets winner as Bayern come from behind to beat Stuttgart

Robert Lewandowski scored the winner as Bayern came back from a deficit to beat Stuttgart 3-1. Douglas Costa killed off the game towards the end of the second half.
Bayern München came from behind to earn a 3-1 victory over VfB Stuttgart at Mercedes-Benz Arena.

Robert Lewandowski came close to giving the German champions an early lead when his header hit the post a few minutes into the game.

But it was the home side who took the lead in the 20th minute as Tanguy Coulibaly slotted the ball home after Silas Wamangituka found him with a perfect first-time pass.

Philipp Förster missed two great chances to increase the lead for Stuttgart before Bayern hit back through Kingsley Coman in the 38th minute.

Stuttgart then went down to score at the other end, but Philipp Förster's goal was ruled out because Coulibaly was adjudged to have committed a foul on Manuel Neuer.

Instead, Bayern grabbed the lead shortly before half-time as Gregor Kobel was unable to keep out Robert Lewandowski's shot from the edge of the area.

In a second half that didn't produce much in terms of goalmouth action, Orel Mangala and Sasa Kaljdzic missed good opportunities for Stuttgart before substitute Douglas Costa cemented Bayern's win, making it 3-1 after a solo effort in the 87th minute.

The win means Bayern hold on to the Bundesliga's top spot, two points clear of RB Leipzig, who jumped to second place with a 2-1 victory over Arminia Bielefeld after Borussia Dortmund slipped to a sensational 1-2 defeat at home against FC Köln.
