Germany to be without Thomas Müller at the Summer Olympics

The German Football Association has confirmed that Thomas Müller will not be part of Germany's squad for the Summer Olympics.
Thomas Müller will not be representing Germany at the Olympics in Tokyo, which is due to take place this summer.

According to SID, the German Football Association (DFB) confirmed on Thursday that the FC Bayern München star is not on the list of players submitted to the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).

Müller, 30, played 100 games for Germany's senior national team before Germany coach Joachim Löw announced in March 2019 that the forward was no longer part of his plans.

Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels, who was also axed from Löw's squad, and Union Berlin's Max Kruse confirmed on Wednesday that they are both on the NADA list.

Only players who have been on the list since the beginning of the year could feature at the Summer Olympics.

Germany U21 coach Stefan Kuntz will be in charge of Germany's Olympics team and is allowed to include three players born before 1 January 1997 in his squad for the tournament.
