Report: Dortmund draw up list of candidates to replace Roman Bürki

Roman Bürki could soon be facing increased competition for his starting spot at Borussia Dortmund.
Borussia Dortmund have started drawing up a list of potential candidates to replace Roman Bürki as the club's first-choice goalkeeper for the 2021/22 season, according to Bild.

The list is said to include Benfica's Odysseas Vlachodimos, Ajax's André Onana as well as RB Leipzig's Peter Gulacsi, who is said to be available for €10-15 million in the summer due to a release clause,

Bürki has been a starter for several seasons, making a total of 228 appearances, but has faced a fair amount of criticism over the years, most recently after Dortmund's 4-2 defeat to Gladbach last month.

Even though Bürki signed a contract until 2023 less than six months ago, Bild claims the BVB bosses are starting to lose patience with the 30-year-old, whose only rival is 33-year-old veteran Marwin Hitz.

Hitz, who is out of contract at the end of the season, is filling in for Bürki at the moment, with the 30-year-old sidelined due a shoulder injury.
