Sommer named Swiss Footballer of the Year

Borussia Mönchengladbach keeper Yann Sommer has been named Swiss Footballer of the Year for the second time.

Yann Sommer has been named Swiss Footballer of the Year for the second time in his career. The Borussia Mönchengladbach keeper also won the award in 2016.

The 29-year-old receives the adulation following an impressive 2017/18 season at Gladbach as well as good performances for Switzerland at the World Cup.

Sommer's teammate Denis Zakaria has been named Rookie of the Year while VfL Wolfsburg's Lara Dickenmann has been voted best female player for the third consecutive time and the eighth time in total.
