Fantasy Bundesliga: Must-haves and differentials for Matchday 23
Ahead of Matchday 23, we have highlighted a must-have player (M) and a differential pick (D) from each game that you should consider for your Fantasy Bundesliga team.
SV Werder Bremen v. Eintracht Frankfurt:
M: Amin Younes, Midfielder (SGE, 7.6M, 3%) - Frankfurt capitalized on Bayern’s misfortunes last week and Younes had a field day. Racking up five shots and a goal, Younes is making a name as newcomer of the year with his fantastic displays since joining from Napoli. He has now scored double digit Fantasy points in four out his last six games and looks very attractive at only 7.6M.
D: Djibril Sow, Midfielder (SGE, 7M, 0%) - Sow has served his one match suspension and should be right back in the starting lineup this weekend. If you want to get on the Frankfurt train, Sow will be the least owned starting Frankfurt player.
Borussia Dortmund v. DSC Arminia Bielefeld:
M: Jadon Sancho, Midfielder (BVB, 21.2M, 38) - Sancho has been a different player since the start of the Rückrunde and we haven’t even truly seen his best yet. After the goal fest against Schalke last week, the flood gates for Dortmund look to have finally opened up.
D: Fabian Klos, Forward (DSC, 9.8M, 1%) - Other than their clean sheet against Schalke, Dortmund have had a rough going this season in defense. Klos certainly is a menace in the air and could easily grab a consolation goal at some point in the match.
FC Bayern München v. 1. FC Köln:
M: Leroy Sané, Midfielder (FCB, 18.8M, 18%) - Sané is in some of his best form at the moment, scoring once and assisting twice in his last three games including Champions League. Köln are obviously struggling and after the performance Bayern put in against Lazio recently, it could be a very long game for Köln come Saturday.
D: Kingsley Coman, Forward (FCB, 15.8M, 4%) - Köln players are not recommended for this match so the least owned Bayern player among the probable starters is Coman.
VfL Wolfsburg v. Hertha BSC:
M: Maxence Lacroix, Defender (WOB, 5.8M, 15%) - Hertha’s attack has been downright awful lately, scoring only three times in the last six matches. They were shutout in three of those matches as well. Wolfsburg’s defense has been stellar and Hertha’s frontline just doesn't have the gusto to break them down either. Wolfsburg will aim for their seventh league clean sheet in a row.
D: Renato Steffen, Midfielder (WOB, 11.7M, 1%) - Steffen has continued to play well after having a fantastic January. He keeps finding himself in opportune positions, capping his superior movement with two goals last week right in front of goal.
VfB Stuttgart v. FC Schalke 04:
M: Silas Wamangituka, Forward (VFB, 9.7M, 6%) - On a bit of a dry spell at the moment, Wamangituka hasn't scored in three games after being the talk of the league a few weeks ago. It isn’t for lack of effort, however, and had two shots on goal last week. A turn of fortunes is on the horizon against struggling Schalke.
D: Konstantinos Mavropanos, Defender (VFB, 4.5M, 0%) - A chance for a clean sheet makes Mavropanos intriguing as well as his quality aerial skills. He has scored double digit Fantasy points in two out of the last four games and has won at least six points alone in Won Duels in three of the last four.
RB Leipzig v. Borussia M’gladbach:
M: Marcel Sabitzer, Midfielder (RBL, 15.7M, 8%) - Sabitzer has shown recently what most fans of him are used to in regards to his dominant performances on the field. With two goals and an assist in his last three league games, we should expect more of these games from Sabitzer as Leipzig are now within striking distance of the title.
D: Valentino Lazaro, Midfielder (BMG, 8.8M, 1%) - Lazaro has started the last two league games after missing the previous seven. He has taken four shots and attempted three crosses in those two games. Gladbach will need to redeem themselves after their poor performance in their upset loss at Mainz.
1. FC Union Berlin v. TSG Hoffenheim:
M: Christoph Baumgartner, Midfielder (TSG, 12.5M, 3%) - In his last three games including Europa League, Baumgartner has two goals and has taken an impressive 13 shots with eight on target. With the league table the only challenge they have to worry about now, Baumgartner can exert all his focus into finishing the season strong.
D: Ilhas Bebou, Forward (TSG, 9.6M, 1%) - Bebou has been on a fantastic run of form in the last four games. He has scored three and grabbed two assists as well. If Hoffenheim can look past their poor Europa League performance, they still have a decent chance in this match.
1. FSV Mainz 05 v. FC Augsburg:
M: Florian Niederlechner, Forward (FCA, 10.4M, 1%) - In his last four starts, Niederlechner has three goals and an assist. Although it hasn't translated to wins for Augsburg, they never go down without a fight.
D: Adam Szalai, Forward (M05, 3.1M, 0%) - Szalai has started the last three games in a row and has been very active in the final third. With six shots taken during that stretch, Szalai and Mainz have been a different animal since Bo Svensson has been in charge.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen v. Sport-Club Freiburg:
M: Leon Bailey, Forward (B04, 14.6M, 5%) - Bailey is always a nuisance down the flank and will pose a major threat to the Freiburg defense.
D: Jonathan Schmid, Midfielder (SCF, 10.2M, 1%) - Since coming back from injury five games ago, Schmid has looked very fit and is getting much more involved in the attack. He has taken four shots in the last two games whereas that same feat took him eight games the previous.
