Schalke a goldmine for fantasy points

After Dortmund’s 4-0 thrashing in MD 22, Schalke continued their poor form with a 5-1 defeat to Stuttgart that saw players like Wataru Endo, MID (6.3M, 28), Borna Sosa, DEF (5.5M, 20) and Sasa Kalajdzic, FOR (6.7M, 13) get decent returns. While the opportunity might have slipped with Endo, one consistent factor in games against Schalke seems to be plenty of attacking opportunities for the opponent. Schalke next face Mainz (H), Wolfsburg (A) and Gladbach (H) in the league, and it could be wise to load up on their players. One potential pick is Karim Onisiwo, FOR (9.5M, 6) who has emerged as the one to lead the line for Mainz.

If managers are looking for a more differential pick, it might not be out of the question to go with Amine Harit, MID (12.2M, 8) considering that he is currently in charge of most of Schalke’s attacking play and set pieces.

Rotation risks ahead

Many players from the likes of RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund had a good haul of points this week after scoring 3 goals each, but could be rotating in certain positions in the upcoming weeks. Leipzig will face Wolfsburg in the Pokal in midweek, and could rotate against Freiburg (A) in MD 24 in the weekends with games against Liverpool (CL) and Frankfurt (H) the following week.

Similarly, Dortmund will be facing Gladbach in the Pokal in midweek, followed by Bayern (A) in the weekend, and then Sevilla (CL) and Hertha BSC (H) next week. Key assets such as Dani Olmo, MID (18.0M, 19), Christopher Nkunku, MID (16.5M, 17) and Jadon Sancho, MID (21.6M, 21) should still be kept if owned, but otherwise, it might be better to avoid owning too many assets from these teams.

Budget picks

There has been an influx of value picks recently that managers can consider if they are looking to free up some funds. In the goalkeepers section, Lennart Grill (1M, -1) looks set to continue as Leverkusen’s first choice keeper until Hradecky returns. Marwin Hitz (2M, 9) will also start for Dortmund and could have many saves against Bayern.

In the defense department, usual suspects Borna Sosa (5.5M, 20) and Maxence Lacroix (6.2M, 15) are solid, but I recommend Phillipp Mwene (1.6M, 6) and Marvin Friedrich (7.3M, 8) for the upcoming matchday due to fixture flexibility and clean sheet potential.

For midfielders and forwards, there isn't as much value in the budget sections but this might change in the upcoming weeks where more rotation is likely to happen.

Shocks of the matchday

Wataru Endo, MID (6.3M, 28) was the top scorer of the week with 2 goals and 2 assists in an impressive performance in the 5-1 win against Schalke.

Leon Goretzka, MID (15.5M, 22) had 3 assists in a good game against Koln, and is now an option into the Bayern midfield after recovering full fitness.
