In addition to that, the 18-year-old striker has so far just appeared for Dortmund's second side in the fourth tier of German football this season.
Speaking to Swedish media outlet Aftonbladet, Isak admits that he feels he should be playing at a higher level than he currently is.
"That's not the level I see myself at, but I can't complain," the Swedish striker said.
During the summer, Isak was linked with a move away from Dortmund, but ultimately, he stayed at Signal Iduna Park.
"The question came to mind, and I thought about it, but I stayed at Dortmund. There's no reason for me to look back or ponder over it. I stayed, and I have to fight," Isak told Aftonbladet.
Isak has been called up for the Swedish Under-21 national team and is currently preparing for the upcoming Euro qualifiers against Hungary and Turkey.
"It's fun for me to come home to Sweden and play football. It's important for the national team, it's two crucial matches," he told Aftonbladet.
The 18-year-old has made 13 appearances and scored one goal for Dortmund's first team since joining the club from Swedish side AIK in January 2017.
