Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has coached some of the game’s most high-profile players – including the likes of Mohammed Salah, Marco Reus, Mario Gotze, Mats Hummels, Van Dijk and Sadio Mane.
But it is current Bayern superstar Robert Lewandowski who stands out in the German coach’s books as they best player he has ever trained.
Speaking to Sport Bild in an exclusive interview, he was quizzed on who is the best player he has worked with as a manager and Klopp did not hesitate to answer.
He said: "Robert Lewandowski. It actually won't be fair to say that about any other player except Lewy. What he has made out of his potential, how he pushed himself to become the player he is today, that's extraordinary."
Klopp praised the Bayern Munich striker for his work ethic and grit to make it to the top.
"Lewy took every step he needed to take to be that goal machine. Every one. He has immersed himself in the game, he just knows in every situation what he has to do, where he has to go. Lewy is an absolute machine," he explained.
Robert Lewandowski is in line to break Gerd Muller’s record of most goals in a Bundesliga season. He has scored 32 so far in 24 appearances, assisting six in the process.
Muller himself scored 40 goals in a record-breaking 1971/72 Bundesliga season.
