Sport Bild Report: Schalke prepare to offload Kutuçu on the cheap

Despite an expressed enthusiasm for a return to his hometown club, it looks as if FC Schalke 04 will cash in on former academy prodigy Ahmed Kutuçu.
Returning from a short loan stint with Dutch Erdevisie Side Heracles Almelo, 21-year-old Schalke native Ahmed Kutuçu expressed a strong desire too continue to represent his relegated hometown club in the second division.

"The 2. Bundesliga is a tough league with exciting opponents," Kutuçu told a German reported shortly after Schalke's relegation was confirmed in April, "It'll be good for me. I'd like to play there and celebrate promotion again after a year."

In spite of such sentiments, it appears as if the Königsblauen have no place for the once celebrated youngster. Germany's main sporting tabloid reports that S04 sporting director Rouven Schröder has received an inquiry from Turkish club Basaksehir Istanbul. Moreover, the club's new executive isn't insistent on asking the relatively new Super Lig club to dig into its notorious deep pockets.

Sport Bild reports that a transfer "in the low-six-figure" range will be completed "soon". Kutuçu's estimated market value, once sky high at €6 million in late 2019, has plummeted down to €1.7 million amid declining appearances.
