Danny Latza named new Schalke captain

Schalke 04 have named Danny Latza as their new club captain.

    Danny Latza has been named new Schalke 04 captain ahead of the club's upcoming 2021/22 campaign in the 2. Bundesliga.

    The new signing from Mainz takes over the armband from Sead Kolasinac, who is no longer at the club.

    "Danny brings everything I expect from a captain," explained Schalke coach Dimitrios Grammozis.

    "He convinces in training sessions and games with good performances, leads the way on and off the pitch with his attitude and behavior, and takes responsibility for the group."

    Latza, who wore the captain's armband at Mainz as well, will be joined by Victor Pálsson, Simon Terodde, Ralf Fährmann and Malick Thiaw to form the team council.
