Reports: Augsburg among several suitors for young Canadian winger Buchanan
According to German footballing magazine Kicker, FC Augsburg have tendered an offer for 22-year-old winger Tajon Buchanan of the New England Revolution.
The German representatives in the race, as reported in German footballing magazine Kicker, are the Bavarian Swabians of FC Augsburg. The Fuggerstädter are said to have already made a concrete offer for the versatile youngster. Buchanan's current estimated market value is listed as €4 million on transfermarkt's German website.
The price, along with the many potential other suitors, may mean that the FCA stand little chance of procuring the player. Additionally, New England coach Bruce Arena has publicly insisted that his club has no interest in selling off players in the middle of the MLS campaign. A €3 million offer from Lens was reportedly rejected a few weeks ago.
Augsburg also have more acute needs in defense. Injuries, Olympic Duty, and the Kevin Danso dust up leaves coach Marcus Weinzerl with just one operating center back in the form of captain Jeffrey Gouweleeuw.
According to Kicker, there are other unnamed German clubs interested in Buchanan.
