Liverpool "seriously pursuing" Leverkusen star

Sky Germany reports that Jeremie Frimpong has emerged as a strong candidate to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool.

With the departures of head coach Xabi Alonso and defensive leader Jonathan Tah already confirmed at Bayer Leverkusen, more exits could be on the horizon.

Among those who could also be on the move is Jeremie Frimpong, who has been on Liverpool’s radar for some time.

According to Sky Germany, the Reds are “seriously pursuing” the Dutch international, with advanced talks reportedly underway.

The 24-year-old is considered a “top candidate” to replace Trent Alexander-Arnold at Anfield and will be available for a relatively modest fee of €35-40 million thanks to a release clause in his contract.

Frimpong has scored five goals and provided 12 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.

He joined Die Werkself from Celtic in January 2021 for a fee of €11 million.
