AC Milan appear to be leading the race to sign Hoffenheim midfielder Florian Grillitsch.

Kicker reports that the Serie A side are very keen on the 26-year-old, who has one year left on his contract.

Grillitsch's agent, Thomas Böhm, confirmed last month that he was in contact with clubs from Italy about his client.

Unlike Napoli, who have also been linked with a move for Grillitsch, AC Milan are capable of paying a low double-digit million transfer fee for the midfielder, according to Kicker.

The Austrian international sat out of Hoffenheim's 3-2 win over Viktoria Köln in the DFB-Pokal due to thigh problems and is set to miss his side's Bundesliga opener against Augsburg on Saturday as well.
