Report: Mats Hummels set to return to training

Borussia Dortmund center-back Mats Hummels is set to join full team training with BVB ahead of Saturday's game vs Bayer Leverkusen.
The Germany center-back has been struggling with a patellar tendon issue for a couple of months, but according to Ruhr Nachrichten, Hummels is expected to be back in training on Tuesday.

Hummels made his return to the side in a substitute appearance in the defeat to Freiburg but missed the game vs Hoffenheim due to the persistent knee pain he was feeling.

While Hummels is set to return, the fitness of Gio Reyna and Thomas Meunier has come into question this week. The former suffered a hamstring injury while on duty with the United States, while the Belgian international suffered a muscle injury and missed the games against Estonia and the Czech Republic.

Both Reyna and Meunier will now return to Dortmund, and the club’s medical department will then assess their injuries and decide on whether they will be available for the game against Bayer Leverkusen this weekend.
