For a while, Jonathan Tah looked to be in line to join Bayern Munich, but the links have cooled off and a deal now looks unlikely.

However, speaking to Sky Germany on Saturday, Bayer Leverkusen managing director for sport Simon Rolfes wouldn't completely rule out the possibility of a move for Tah before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.

"You can rarely rule out anything in life," Rolfes said, but added:

“There's nothing that makes me doubt that 'Jona' won't stay with us. That is our position at the moment. There is a lot of speculation, a lot of players have left in April or May who are still with us.”

Tah, who came off the bench in Leverkusen's Supercup penalty shootout win over Stuttgart on Saturday, is "very focused" despite the ongoing rumors, Rolfes insisted.

"He is an important part of the team and of course he is emotionally connected to every single teammate, the coach and the fans."

Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl recently said the Bavarians are finished in terms of signings this transfer window "unless something extraordinary happens".
