Sahin raves about new Dortmund signing Beier: "He was number one on the list"
After selling Niclas Füllkrug to West Ham, Borussia Dortmund have brought in Maxilian Beier from Hoffenheim as his replacement for a reported fee of €28.5 million.
At a press conference on Thursday, new BVB coach Nuri Sahin spoke highly of Beier, who he said was at the top of his shortlist.
"I make no secret of it. I'm very happy that the club has fulfilled my wish. We wanted to sign such a profile and he was number one on the list," said Sahin.
"The good thing was that Maxi really wanted to join us," added Sahin, who sees the Germany international as a very exciting player.
"We've been watching him very closely over the last few months. He's versatile and has everything you need. He has very good depth in his game, runs into space and is also there in the box. He will bring us a lot of quality," he explained.
Beier could make his Borussia Dortmund debut when the Black and Yellows take on FC Phoenix Lübeck in the DFB-Pokal this weekend.
