It was a special game for ex-Arsenal player Serge Gnabry, when he returned to London with Bayern Munich for the Champions League quarterfinal against Arsenal, which ended in a 2-2 draw. After a disappointing loss against Heidenheim on the weekend, Bayern were determined to perform better against the English club.

Gnabry really stood out in the first half: not only did he score the crucial 1-1 goal in order to get Bayern back into the game, he also showed his defensive qualities, helping teammate Alphonso Davies out on more than one occasion against Arsenal's “star boy” Bukayo Saka.

It was a welcoming turn-around in form for Gnabry who was previously sidelined with an injury for three months and who only made his comeback three weeks ago. But after a promising first half against Arsenal, Gnabry once again was struck by bad luck:

In the 70th minute the player went down, holding his thigh and signaling to coach Thomas Tuchel that he wouldn't be able to continue - a huge blow for the back-in-form winger.

After the game, Thomas Tuchel seemed to confirm the worries fans had about Gnabry's injury: “It's a hamstring injury. Right now I don't believe he will be able to play next week at home against Arsenal,” he said.

A small hamstring injury can take up to three weeks to heal, if not longer, which would put Gnabry not only in a difficult spot for any remaining Bayern games, but also the Euros in the summer. A concrete statement over how long Gnabry will be out for has not been made yet by Bayern's medical staff.
