Report: Simons "clearly prefers" Bayern to Leipzig

AZ reports that Xavi Simons "clearly prefers" a move to Bayern Munich over RB Leipzig.

Bayern Munich are battling it out with RB Leipzig for the signature of Xavi Simons and appear to have pulled ahead in the race to sign the Paris Saint-Germain prodigy.

According to Munich-based publication AZ, the 21-year-old Dutchman "clearly prefers" a move to Bayern over a return to Leipzig, where he spent last season on loan.

The big question is whether Bayern will be able to reach an agreement with Paris Saint-Germain for the player.

A loan deal with a purchase obligation seems conceivable. PSG don't want to sell Simons before January 1, 2025, as they would then no longer have to pay Simons' former club PSV a share of the transfer fee.

Some reports have suggested that the purchase obligation could be set at €60-70 million, while others have suggested significantly more.

Simons scored eight goals and provided 13 assists in 32 Bundesliga appearances for RB Leipzig last season.
