Terzic extension said to be a formality

Edin Terzic is expected to sign a new contract with Borussia Dortmund soon.

After leading Borussia Dortmund to the Champions League final, Edin Terzic looks set to be rewarded with a contract extension.

According to Kicker and Fabrizio Romano, the 41-year-old coach is expected to extend his contract beyond 2025.

A meeting with BVB bosses Lars Ricken and Sebastian Kehl is expected to take place in the coming days, with Kicker calling an extension a formality.

This is despite things not going as planned for Terzic in the Bundesliga, where Dortmund finished fifth - their worst league finish since the 2014/15 season.

Terzic has a long history with Dortmund, having worked for the club as a scout and assistant coach at youth level from 2010 to 2013, when he moved abroad to become an assistant at Besiktas and later West Ham.

He returned to Dortmund as assistant coach in 2018 and took over as head coach in December 2020 until the summer of 2021, when he moved to the role of technical director.

He returned to the head coaching role in the summer of 2022.
