After joining RB Leipzig on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion on Deadline Day, Brajan Gruda was thrown straight into the starting XI for Sunday’s 2-1 win over 1. FC Köln.

Explaining his decision to give the 21-year-old the chance in the starting lineup immediately, RB Leipzig coach Ole Werner said:

“Brajan is simply an exceptionally talented footballer who fits in very, very well with us.”

Werner added that Gruda brought the “composure and edge” needed for a tough away game in Köln.

“I was satisfied with his debut, and the fact is we don’t have time to waste integrating players,” he said.

“He delivered on his promise,” Werner stressed.

Gruda could start again when RB Leipzig travel to face Bayern Munich in the DFB-Pokal on Wednesday.
