Carro apologizes for lashing out at Eberl: "I'm an emotional person"

Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro has apologized for his emotional outburst against Bayern boss Max Eberl.

On Tuesday, Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro delivered a blistering attack on Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl at a fan club event at the BayArena.

According to Kicker, Leverkusen had an agreement in principle to sell Jonathan Tah to Bayern Munich for €25 million plus €5 million in add-ons once the Bavarians had completed the sales of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui to Manchester United.

However, Eberl and Bayern seem to have had a change of heart, leading Carro to take a swipe at the Bayern boss on Tuesday.

"Well, I don't think much of Max Eberl, absolutely nothing," Carro said scathingly.

"And I wouldn't negotiate with him," he added.

Speaking to Bild, Carro has now apologized for his comments, saying he didn't mean for them to be spread so widely.

"I am an emotional person. I made the statements about Max Eberl in an informal exchange with Bayer 04 fans. I didn't intend for them to be taken up and multiplied in this way," said Carro.

“But that doesn't change anything about the statement, for which I hereby apologize. Of course I respect FC Bayern, the people in charge and the achievements this club has made for German football.”
